Last week was the first week of class. I asked each group of students what they did over break, and got a lot of the usual answers: visited relatives, made dumplings, got a haircut, found a part-time job, took care of nieces or nephews, and had parties with high school classmates.
One girl chose to share that she "washed her grandfather's feet." I asked her what she meant. She said her grandfather can't take care of himself, so she helped her mother with his care-taking, including washing his feet. What a sweet little detail to share with the class.
